TAROTSCOPES | SEPTEMBER 30 - OCTOBER 6

VIII JUSTICE

As the scales tip towards a thicker night consciousness, Justice reveals itself to remind us that balance is never as it seems. In true Libra fashion, Justice is the double edged sword thrusting towards unity in a dualistic game. Interestingly, Libran process runs in either/or directions: seeking peace on one hand and on the other, disrupting with the intention to alter the interelational field.

The field is not binary. The path is not without an infinite number of forks in the road. Justice teaches us that a true examination of universal forces necessitates a karmic worldview: every action has a consequence with untold influence. When we seek to keep the peace, we can become stuck in indecision, aware that anything we do might cause a tsunami rather than a ripple on a serene surface. On the other hand, Justice often requires us to understand that the forces we are fighting are more like oceans. We are the fish that reside in them. If the current is already deeply troubled, it will be difficult not to get swept away in the drama. Justice reminds us that focusing on our infinitesimal movements, hidden conversations and seemingly small actions can activate our agency with unexpected impact.

Justice demands our passive resistance. Our polite but firm insistence on our own truth. Justice asks us to look at who we are judging and whether we are walking the same walk as our enemies or just talking about doing better. Justice surveys the field and plays the game. This week, balance yourself with an urgent pause. If your view is focused on the foreground, extend it beyond your inner circle. If you are leaning so far into the big picture that you become your own Waldo, establish yourself with practical, tangible actions.

Lady Justice often appears to us blindfolded, holding scales far in front of her chest, supposedly feeling the balance. Yet this symbol, far removed from original emblems of Justice, really is an example of how we are conditioned to understand Justice, as if it has no connection to the thriving, breathing ecosystem of which we are apart. No justice, no peace. Peace without awareness is not peace - it’s escapism and avoidance. We have learned that to be just we must impair our vision, in some way cut ourselves off from our own instincts. Rather, the medicine for Justice is to operate from our intuition, to center ourselves enough to have an opinion and to wield it generously. Take off the blindfold. Do not look away or abandon the trouble. Sit with it a while. Justice knows that the current conditions will eventually develop into particular outcomes. Register and renew your capacity to influence them.

WHAT EVEN IS A TAROTSCOPE? We often think of horoscopes as predictions that are specific to each astrological sign. In Ancient Greek, the term horoscope simply means "I watch the hour." To astrologers today, a horoscope is a chart that maps the planetary bodies in the sky. From this chart, we derive meaning that can influence how we work with energy. Regardless of our unique individual charts, we are ALL working with the same energy from above. Each week, I examine this energy, pull a tarot card and write a guided meditation with the collective in mind. My tarotscopes are meant to be read as inspiration. Please note that because we are all operating with our individual energy, some elements will resonate more than others. Take what you like and leave the rest. Tarotscopes are offered freely in an effort to cultivate collective healing. I am always grateful for your support in sharing this work with anyone you think it might help. If you are inspired or find support here, please consider making a donation to help sustain these weekly offerings.
